You could be playing piano in ONE DAY! It doesn't take years to learn to play the piano. You're not too old. It's not too difficult. It's not too late.
Have you been waiting for an opportunity to finally start learning to play the piano? Or, perhaps you had lessons as a kid and wished you'd kept going? Our Beginning Piano for Adults "Retreat" is a convenient way to get started, without a long-term commitment, and without an instrument at home.
"The only regret anyone ever has about piano lessons is that they stopped...or they never started."
Piano lessons are Fun!
Whether you're revisiting or exploring piano lessons for the first time, here's a glimpse into what a lesson at The Music Studio is actually like. We've removed the worry and nerves, so you can enjoy learning to read and play music!
Our Adult Piano Lesson groups are casual, relaxed, and will typically have 4 to 6 participants. However, our lessons arenotcollaborative, classroom-style groups, but rather private lessons being conducted at the same time. Each student is guided and works individually with a teacher, and at their own pace. No one is held back, or pushed, based on the progress of the other students. Dual sets of headphones at each instrument keep things quiet and focused, and give students privacy so they can relax and better absorb new concepts (and this is also how everyone is able to work on different music at the same time). There is no long-term commitment; lessons continue on a month-to-month basis and may begin at any time during the year. There is ample opportunity and encouragement to ask questions and review concepts during each class due to the longer lesson length (60 minutes weekly), and practice is accomplished during the lesson. For flexibility, students have the additional option of attending on a different day should they have a schedule conflict.
Will I have to play out loud in front of anyone? Or, with anyone? No. Lessons are completely "private" because each digital piano is equipped with dual sets of headphones (one for you, one for the teacher). You can practice without worrying about making mistakes or being put on the spot.
Do I need a piano at home? Yes, to set up for success and make the fastest progress, you should have a full-sized digital keyboard or acoustic piano at home (or close by) for practice between lessons.
Is it OK if I've never had any lessons or music experience at all? Absolutely! No place better to begin than at the beginning! And, you'll be surprised at how quickly you progress with our accelerated lesson program. You'll start reading and playing music at the first lesson!
I had some lessons as a child, but I don't remember anything. We hear this a lot. You may be surprised at how much you retained from those childhood lessons. But, rest assured, we'll review from the beginning, and move at your pace. If it all comes roaring back, we'll move along until we find your true starting point.
How long does it take to learn piano? Every student progresses at a unique tempo (see what we did there?). But, what we can assure you is that our lesson program is truly an "accelerated" format, and you'll be learning much faster and more thoroughly than with traditional methods.
I play already, but want to keep learning. Can intermediate and advanced players join the class? Yes, all levels are welcome! Because both the student and the teacher use headphones, classes can easily be a dynamic of different levels and experience, and you can move at your perfect pace.
My goal is to play jazz/music for church/classical....do I have to play the same music as everyone else in the class? Nope. If there's a particular genre of music that interests you, we can work specifically toward that goal.
I really want to commit to lessons, but my work schedule changes constantly. Can I still sign up? Although we don't adjust tuition for absences, Students may cancel and reschedule missed lessons (for any reason) by using our online make-up calendar. In addition, make-ups don't expire -- you can reschedule at any time that's convenient for you throughout the year.
Do you offer bi-weekly lessons (every other week)? We offer weekly lessons (60 minutes once per week), and also a monthly class (2 hours once per month). You can check out the date for the next scheduled monthly class, and also sign up, using the link at the top. But, we're happy to talk about scheduling for weekly lessons, too...just give us a call or email.
Can I try out a lesson first? Actually, we highly recommend visiting the studio for a Complimentary Tryout Lesson prior to committing to weekly lessons! It's a great way to check us out, meet teachers, ask questions, and experience a short version of what a lesson is like. And, you can sign up here:
