Established in 2005

​​The Music Studio is a unique non-retail, multi-teacher music school, specializing in Piano Instruction for ages 7 through Adult.  Owner, Susan Flinn, began teaching from her own home in 1989.  And, in 2005, expanded to what is now The Music Studio, located in Northern Virginia.  In 2023, the school officially opened its second location here in Virginia Beach.

Our Teachers possess a wide range of music education, teaching and performance experience, and are dedicated to providing their students with the skills and technique to become fluent, independent musicians.  In addition, we strive to show students opportunities beyond their expectations in learning, performing, composing, and in music education and industry. 

Meet Our Team

Susan Flinn
Owner

Susan Flinn holds a degree in Music from James Madison University, and received the National Association of Music Merchants Scholarship in 1989. As part of the Committee on Technology, she has spoken at the World Piano Pedagogy Conference and the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy concerning the use of technology in the private teaching studio. She is currently Chairperson for the Rappahannock Music Society Jazz Festival, Fredericksburg, Virginia. She offers  instruction in Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello, and Double Bass, to ages 7 through Adult, beginning through advanced levels.  Susan was voted 'Best Music Instructor" in Inside NoVa's Best of Stafford 2019, 2020, and 2021.

Mary Blevins
Managing Senior Partner

Mary Blevins holds a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education from James Madison University. She also studied Music Therapy and was a music scholarship recipient at Radford University for two years, as well as a member of the University Chorus.  Mary offers instruction in Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, and Percussions.
