What comes to mind when you think about being a Teacher? Here are some thoughts and questions our current teachers had when they started...
Classroom music teaching is not as effective as private one-to-one teaching. Will classes be chaotic and uncontrollable, with students lacking discipline? Will it be boring? Long hours? I've heard lesson planning and practice takes a lot of personal time. Will I have to learn all the students' songs in advance of teaching them? Will I eventually have to look for a job that pays more?
Our school, philosophy, and teaching methods are unlike any other. Our time-tested program format sets both Student and Teacher up for success. We train our teachers and administrators well in communicating with students and parents, and how to maintain a successful classroom. Plus, we have the most amazing students! Teaching with us is active and fast-paced -- but discipline issues and lack of focus rarely happen! We believe in helping students become independent learners and practicers, and in guiding them to take ownership of the learning process. Classes are quiet, calm, focused, and each student moves at their perfect pace. Our Teachers work individually with each student and closely with parents, and develop personal connections. However, all assignments and practice instructions are incorporated effectively within each lesson, so there is little need for additional lesson planning outside of class time. In addition, we believe in teaching Students to develop their own ear, and that music is an open-book test....they can read, interpret, play, and correct, without depending on someone else playing it first. We are able to offer hours and compensation that are competitive and typically higher than public and private school positions.
Our new Virginia Beach location is opening soon. We're currently accepting applications for Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Interns
The Music Studio, LLC, will be opening its second location in Virginia Beach, VA, on March 1, 2023. We are actively seeking upcoming or recent college graduates with majors in either Music or Education, who are interested in pursuing a career in teaching or music school administration and management. Paid Internships, as well as part and full-time employment opportunities, are available as early as March 2023. Internships and part-time may be seasonal, as needed, with the option to continue permanently and into a full-time position.
No prior teaching experience is required, as we offer complete training. We're looking for "Musicians" and "Educators" who love working with kids, prioritize teaching, and enjoy being creative, spontaneous, and making kids laugh while they learn. Our Teachers and Assistants work and have fun together, and support each other -- finding solutions, brainstorming ideas, and filling in for each other when needed. Our students know and work with all of us, so it's very important to share a common teaching philosophy, work well together, and communicate often. We believe in an orderly, professional environment...but also one that is warm, welcoming and fun. It's important to us that our Teachers are happy, appreciated, well-paid, and look forward to coming in every day.
